CW Is The Home Of 2009 Daytime Emmy’s

April 6, 2009 by Dexie

At the risk of sounding like a soap opera cliche, the twists of all twists in the Daytime Soaps, the 2009 Emmy’s finally found a home. CBS announced on November of 2008 that they have no plans of hosting the 36th Daytime Emmy’s. Apparently, they didn’t plan on renewing one of their soaps either, heh.

Emmy Awards Preparations

But, all is well that ends well because CW Network is welcoming the Daytime Emmy’s with open arms. No official announcement has been made yet but all arrows are pointing towards the home of CW.

Because of this intriguing journey, 2009 Daytime Emmy’s won’t be aired August 31 at the Orpheum in Los Angeles. The official nominees will be announced on May 14th during the last hour of NBC’s Today Show. Pre-Nominations have been released if you want to get an idea on how the competition is going to be this year.

Just in case CW backs out, NATAS assured everyone that a Plan B is waiting in the wings. I HOPE SO!

Pussycat Dolls Will Visit Llanview This May

April 3, 2009 by Dexie

FYI, I just got this information from One Life To Live’s Wikipedia page. Pussycat Dolls could possibly be visiting Llanview on May 13th, Wednesday. I have no confirmation whatsoever so this is just a rumor of course.

Which character is having a birthday on May? Oh wait, perhaps a Prom Night episode? Llanview gets the best musical hook ups don’t they?

What song will the PCD perform from their Doll Domination album when they visit Llanview? “When I Grow Up“, “Whatcha Think About That“, “I Hate This Part“, or maybe their own version of Slumdog Millionaire song, “Jai Ho“. Or all of above.

I hope it’s not a rumor because it’s going to be a blast if Pussycat Dolls show up in Llanview. Rex needs a huge act to book in his Ultra Violet club to pay for Shane’s medical expenses. Hey, just a thought.

Ron Carlivati Is Too Dark Yet Oh-So Brilliant!

March 11, 2009 by Dexie

When Ron Carlivati took over in writing for One Life To Live I have to admit, I was very happy. Finally, One Life To Live will rise back up to it’s fabulousness like it was before. For a while there the Soap was at an impasse. I was getting bored with all the stupid storylines. But slowly but surely, Carlivati unleashed his dark, sick, disturbed yet brilliant  head on all of us.

First, Nash’s death. For storyline purposes, someone had to die. Who else to kill but the husband of Jessica Buchanan, father to 1 child and another one in the way which he found out about on his death bed. Nash and Jessica went through so much drama starting with Jessica’s inherited multiple personality disorder from her mother Viki Lord. Jessica used to be married to Antonio Vega. Jessica had to painfully admit after their honeymoon that she and her Tess alter integrated which is why she fell in love with Nash too. But of course they killed Nash off. Nothing is ever happily ever after in Soap Operas. That thing only happens in Angelina Jolie’s life (hehe). Jessica had to face losing her husband hours after she found out she was pregnant with their second child. Albeit I hated that Nash died I understood that that’s how life goes. And that’s how soaps story had to go. It created dramas and it certainly brought out a lot of that on the show and in Bree Williamson’s ability as an actress. She just earned a pre-nomination for the 36th Emmy’s.

Is Rebecca Budig Going Back To CBS?

February 24, 2009 by Dexie

rebeccabudig3-comedy-for-a-cure_nc

Before Rebecca Budig arrived in Pine Valley (AMC) as Greenlee Smythe, a character created to make Erica Kane a living hell (woohooo), she was actually Michelle Bauer from CBS’ Guiding Light. Rebecca was one of the few reasons why I was watching that Soaps. I have been a fan for a long time which is why I was so happy when I heard she was going back to Daytime except in ABC.

Anyhoo, the Michelle Bauer character went through 2 facelifts when Rebecca left GL. Bethany Joie Lenz (One Tree Hill) and Nancy St Alban did wonderful in their own versions. Each actresses made me root for the Danny and Michelle love story. When Danny and Michelle left Springfield to help Michelle’s Dad in his medical mission in South Africa (??), I slowly got turned off in watching GL. Especially when the “kissing-cousins” storyline became the focal point of the show. Thank goodness Laura Wright, who used to play Cassie (Reva’s sister), showed up in General Hospital as Carly Corinthos. My life was complete again.

Phillip Spaulding has been brought back to the Springfield canvas again. Soap Central reports that GL is looking for someone to bring back Michelle Bauer back. Nancy St. Alban is not coming back to reprise the role. Well, not that we know of yet.

Here’s my question, is Rebecca Budig possibly returning to Guiding Light to portray Michelle Bauer again? I would love it if she does. I might start watching Guiding Light again. As of right now, no one has been officially named for the role but Michelle Bauer will be back in Springfield by April. I’d probably tune in just to see if whoever gets the job is fit for one of my favorite characters on Daytime :).

2009 Daytime Emmy’s Has No Home

November 17, 2008 by Dexie

Emmy Awards Preparations

CBS Network is supposed to be the one taking the reins for the 2009 Daytime Emmy’s after ABC hosted the 2008 show. According to Soaps In Depth (December 1 issue), a CBS network representative has confirmed that  they will not broadcast the show next year. NATAS has offered other networks to air 2009 Daytime Emmy’s. ABC and SoapNet hasn’t commented on whether they would take the hosting job.

Wow. What’s wrong CBS? You want all the nominations to be all just CBS soaps? Coz you know, having 4 CBS actors in 1 category is not enough. It must be 5 so the chances of winning is much higher.

Soap Opera’s Formula For A Doomed Relationship

July 17, 2008 by Dexie

amc-aidan-greenlee_nc People think “oh Soaps, it’s all drama”. Yes it is but what they don’t realize is, there’s a science to it also. There’s always an experiment going on year after year after year. Sometimes it doesn’t work, sometimes it does. And one of the things that work is the formula for a doomed relationship.

It’s not when someone slept with another person other than their partner, respectively. Nope. See, that’s part of the experimentation process. Someone will sleep with another person, either in the brink of death or just plain stupidity. Sometimes they’re forgiven and life goes on, sometimes not. But most of the times, it will be forgotten and forgiven.

If you want to know the Soap Opera’s Formula for a doomed relationship, stick around, and click for more :)…
