Deidre Hall and Drake Hogestyn left NBC’s Days Of Our Lives last week. Deidre and Drake were fired by NBC due to budget cuts. I know, firing the most important characters in Salem didn’t make sense to me either. John and Marlena’s exit storyline was that John finally regained his memory. He and Marlen got married while John was still in his hospital bed. They vowed to never ever let go of each other. John may have gotten over his amnesia, he still needs to be cured completely of God knows what. So Marlena took John to another country to get him completely cured. At least NBC didn’t kill them, yet. Now what? That leaves 2 of the most highly respected and loved actors on Daytime jobless.

Rumors and whispers are out. Deidre Hall may be showing up in Port Charles as Anthony Zacchara’s ex-wife. Deidre might be playing Claudia’s mother. Too bad it’s just a rumor though. In the February 9th issue of Soaps In Depth, Guza himself said it’s highly unlikely at this point that they’re going to hire Deidre Hall. While it’s a good storyline to expand the Zacchara canvas, there are no plans at the moment.

Sorry but sometimes I think Guza needs a wake-up call. He’d rather continue churning out recycled Mob storylines than get into the nitty gritty of family dynamics. The Zacchara Family are one of the Mob families in PC but having a Mother added to the canvas would add another twist to the story. Deidre Hall would be great. I guess we’ll have to get used to the false heroes and  huge crisis that doesn’t make a freaking sense storylines. *Sigh*

There has been rumors and I mean LOUD rumors that Days Of Our Lives is the next NBC Soaps that’s on the verge of cancellation. After PASSIONS, DOOL has been tethering on that proverbial bridge.

When I first heard about it, months and months ago, I was like, “No Way”. As crazy as Salem is, DOOL has a LOT of crazier loyal fans..hehe. Seriously, they have a good following. NBC would be stupid to cancel their lone soap. Besides, what are they going to replace it with? Another hour of Today Show? Or ELLEN? C’mon now. All networks should have a daytime soap opera. DAYS is NBC’s baby. Watch it grown, dammit.

Anyhooo, right now, it looks like it’s good news for the DOOL fans. It’s contract negotiation time and all points to renewal. There’s optimism coming from the NBC’s Entertainment and Universal Television Studio co-chairman, Ben Silverman. SID asked him any news about DOOL staying and he said he’s optimistic it would be YES.

*Crosser her fingers for Days of our Lives fans*. If only John stops acting like a horndog and reunite with Blondie (Marlena), I’d be a happier non-DAYS fan

Farah Fath(Gigi, OLTL) and Kirsten Storms(Maxie, GH) used to play BFF Mimi and Bell, respectively, on Days Of Our Lives over there at NBC. Not only were they bestfriends on-screen, they were bestfriends off-screen as well. They were actually roommates at one point. They were fine living together, not fights whatsoever. Until Kirsten bought up the idea of moving to another place. Farrah didn’t want to. They had an argument which ended of no communications for months. No phone calls or anything. But all is well that ends well. Now they’re back to being BFF again. This time is different because they’ve grown up and matured. Farrah said they’ve been friends since she was 15 yrd. old. She can’t see herself not being friends with Kristen for the rest of her life. Awwwww.

You guys have noticed how the Buchanan clan has been slowly getting back the forefront of One Life To Live right? It’s about time. With this new storyline, tongues are wagging, Could Kevin and Joey be walking into the BE’s lounge anytime soon? Oh Please, Please, make it happen.

The Buchanan Boys, young generation, need to come back soon. Now here’s the tricky part, instead of hiring the last ones who played them, we might be seeing new faces. Whuuuuttt?? Again? How many times have these characters have had face makeovers? I can understand that Nathan Fillion(ex-Joey) is now doing a marvelous job being one of the guys at Desperate Housewives and busy doing movies so TPTB might have a hard time getting him back. Just don’t get the other recast, errr, the guy from PASSION? That was the worst recast ever.

What the hell is going on? Just as the WGA Strike is over, daytime soap writers are being fired left and right. First it was the entire writing team of Days Of Our Lives. Now it’s Lynn Marie Latham, Young & The Restless’ head writers along with 3 other writers(Lynsey Dufour, Marina Alburger, and Latham’s husband, Bernard Lechowick) who got the pink slips.

Rumor is that the hired interim executive producer and head writer Josh Griffith will be transitioning to permanent position soon.

Should the ABC daytime writers start looking behind their backs? I suggest they should. After all the dismal stories lately, I wouldn’t be surprised, heh.

OMG!, I am seriously getting goosebumps. After Brandon Beemer (Shawn Douglas Brady) and Martha Madison (Belle Black) had been axed from their contracts, the entire writing staff of Days Of Our Lives were sent packing last Friday, February1st. Head writer Hogan Sheffer along with his staffers Tom Casiello, Frederick Johnson, Meg Kelly, Gordon Rayfield, Judy Tate, Judith Donato, Renee Godelia, and Richard Backus have been fired.

Called in for the interim is former One Life To Live head writer Dana Higley who was part of the DOOL writing team for 19 years before going to OLTL. But was then fired by ABC last year. News is that, as soon as the writers’s strike is over, Dana will be formally named as head writer for DOOL.

WHOA! I hope Dana Higley doesn’t sink DOOL down the drain the way she did with OLTL. I hope NBC’s decision to fire the writing staff doesn’t bite them in the ass next year, heh.

Tamara Braun jumped over the other fence :). she’s going to be joining the crazy Salemites over there at Days of Our Lives on NBC network. Tamara is mostly knows as the 2nd Carly Corinthos. She played Carly from 2001-2005 when Sarah Brown left. Tamara’s Days character is Ava who has a history with Patch who happens to be a fellow General Hospital alumni. He once played Nikolas Cassadine’s crazy Uncle(?). Tamara will first air as Ava on February 8th.
