In a shocking news that rocked all through out the daytime soaps industry, NBC fired Deidre Hall and Drake Hogestyn. Yes, you read it right, John and Marlena, the Luke and Laura of NBC Daytime have been let go in an effort to trim the budget expenses.

So, in order for Days Of Our Lives to continue airing until 2010, they had to fire their highest paid actors. See, that doesn’t make sense to me at all. For non-viewers, it might be. DOOL is nothing without John and Marlena. They are the highest paid actors because they earned and deserve it. They are the 2 major characters on that crazy show.

There has been rumors and I mean LOUD rumors that Days Of Our Lives is the next NBC Soaps that’s on the verge of cancellation. After PASSIONS, DOOL has been tethering on that proverbial bridge.

When I first heard about it, months and months ago, I was like, “No Way”. As crazy as Salem is, DOOL has a LOT of crazier loyal fans..hehe. Seriously, they have a good following. NBC would be stupid to cancel their lone soap. Besides, what are they going to replace it with? Another hour of Today Show? Or ELLEN? C’mon now. All networks should have a daytime soap opera. DAYS is NBC’s baby. Watch it grown, dammit.

Anyhooo, right now, it looks like it’s good news for the DOOL fans. It’s contract negotiation time and all points to renewal. There’s optimism coming from the NBC’s Entertainment and Universal Television Studio co-chairman, Ben Silverman. SID asked him any news about DOOL staying and he said he’s optimistic it would be YES.

Since Martha Madison(ex-Belle recast, DOOL) has been axed, rumors flew that Kristen Storms(Maxie) is leaving Port Charles to go back to Salem. As reported by SID Magazine’s latest issue, Kristen vehemently denied it. She has no intentions on going back to DOOL. The latter didn’t ask her either. She loves working at GH and is having a great time with Bradford Anderson(Spinelli) every second. She’s very happy in Port Charles and plans to stick around as long as they want her.

WTG Kristen. With Maxie’s new job as Kate’s assistant which perturbs Lulu beyong oblivion, things couldn’t be better in GH for her.
