  1. Congratulations Kamar! You have worked tremendously hard, for a very deserving Alma Award.- Kamar did an interview for inside the making of the film ‘Love & Suicide’ in Cuba, you can read the entire article here, and see the transformation into the Character Tomas: http://www.zimbio.com/Film/articles/100/Inside+making+Love+Suicide+movie

  2. New Cuba says:

If you want to see Kamar de los Reyes like YOU HAVE NEVER SEEN HIM BEFORE-you get once chance in California on Sept 6th, 2008, in Beverly Hills, Ca. He plays ‘Tomas’ a tortured soul, a man who goes to Cuba to discover the one thing between LOVE & SUICIDE. He experienced 10 record breaking weeks at the AMC Coconut Grove in FL. Now, he’s back a one time only screening of LOVE & SUICIDE; and two other amazing Cuban films by Cuban American filmmakers; A MAN OF TWO HAVANA’S and HAVANA KIDZ.

You don’t want to miss this opportunity!

The music played in this amazing film, includes tracks from San Rafael 560. See Kamar go back to his roots and emotionally visit his father’s (Walfredo De Los Reyes) home (street: San Rafael 560) in Havana, Cuba for the first time- all caught on film!

The “De Los Reyes” family needs no introduction. For many years and generations this rich musical family has delighted fans of Latin Music and beyond. Daniel’s grandfather, Walfredo De Los Reyes II, was a trumpet player and vocalist in Havana and Co-founder of the Cuban orchestra Casino de la Playa. This group used to hold their rehearsals at the noted address of the De Los Reyes Familia. Daniel’s father Walfredo de los Reyes III is a highly regarded percussionist in his own right. Daniel De Los Reyes. The title of the CD comes San Rafael 560, which was the home address of the Family patriarch, Walfredo De Los Reyes.

The Cuban music played in these films are tremendous. From Kamar de los Reyes and his famous musical family; his brother Daniel’s critically acclaimed SAN RAFAEL 560 CD in Love & Suicide, to Havana Kidz documentary. (Imagine the Buena Vista Social Club as children growing up in Cuba.)

This documentary follows a young group of musicians as they play and practice in day to day life in Havana.
Be apart of three ground breaking films and see the real Cuba like you have never seen it before!
