All My Children : Sydney Penny Is Leaving
Well, like we didn’t see this coming right? Sydney Penny (Julia Santos) has been relegated to a non-existent character for months now. And the last time she was on, she told told everyone she’s moving overseas with Kate. Except there is that little thing called, Kate. Tad and Dixie’s daughter. All My Children couldn’t possibly not reunite Tad and his daughter right?
Julia’s exit at the end of this month will be dramatic. It starts at Jesse and Angie’s wedding. Julia gets shot and as they prep her for surgery, Nurse Julia realizes that surgery will not do anything. Julia will not get a recast so you get where I’m going right? I’m not even going to type out my suspicion. AMC might have finally “handled” the last Santos connection to Pine Valley.
Soaps On ABC wishes Sydney Penney well. See you around.

My wife and I think that Sydney Penny’s departure from AMC has more to do with her being pregnant again and her desire to be at home with her son (born in May, 2007) rather than AMC wanting to get rid of her. Perhaps she let her feelings be known to the producers and they found a way to accommodate her. After all, AMC went out of their way to get her back only to let her character fade from the storyline.
Our suspicions are based on the fact that Ms. Penny’s face has that glow and larger look of a pregnant woman; which is unusual for a person who is so committed to personal health and physical fitness. I am not being facetious here. Pregnant women are quite beautiful. However, they have a certain glow and fullness that is unmistakeable.
I would appreciate any input from those who might know, either way.

Fakeer, i’m sure that’s part of it. And trust me I wish her well. But I’m sure a lot went on on the decision making also. Mostly from Sydney’s part. Julia has no family connection in PV anymore. If you think about hos AMC fired people from last year, it’s disconcerting. Brooke left without a peep, Dixie was killed off, from a pancake no less.
I wish Syndey well, in all her endeavors. I wish AMC didn’t feel the need to kill her much loved character. Keep the doors open in the future. So not only don’t we have Dixie anymore. No Julia either.

Of course I agree with you, Dixie. I forgot about the cut-throat nature of AMC brass, when it comes to displacing those characters they feel are no longer relevant to their storyline.
