Daytime Soaps News : Young & The Restless Head Writer Is FIRED!
What the hell is going on? Just as the WGA Strike is over, daytime soap writers are being fired left and right. First it was the entire writing team of Days Of Our Lives. Now it’s Lynn Marie Latham, Young & The Restless’ head writers along with 3 other writers(Lynsey Dufour, Marina Alburger, and Latham’s husband, Bernard Lechowick) who got the pink slips.
Rumor is that the hired interim executive producer and head writer Josh Griffith will be transitioning to permanent position soon.
Should the ABC daytime writers start looking behind their backs? I suggest they should. After all the dismal stories lately, I wouldn’t be surprised, heh.

It’s about time. The storylines bordered on the absurd, it was quite infuriating. What the daytime serial viewer wants is to be able to suspend their disbelief for that hour they watch their favorite soap. We want believable characters and storylines, even if the plots aren’t completely realistic at times. I am hoping that the new writers can bring the show back to its previous glory.

Loyal fan of Y&R for 30+ years. Love Jeanne Cooper’s character the most. Second favorite is Victoria Rowell’s character and third favorite is Christian LeBlanc. HOWEVER….The writing has increasingly deteriorated over the last two or more years. Killing Cassey, destroying her family using Phylis as the poision…TOTAL TRASH! Now the latest outrage….Restless Styles controversial singer as their “cover girl”. Singing about liking to kiss girls. This should not ever be put onto daytime tv. Far too many young impressionable FEMALES view this soap. As a teacher I have encouraged many young women to view Y&R for its relevant issues, strong female characters, traditional family values and its “lessons to be learned from every choice, good, bad or just plain stupid.” Please do not allow this degrading of women to continue. It was bad enough when you degraded Sharon, Phylis and Drucilla’s characters. We took it and learned from it. But NOT THIS. THIS IS AWFUL, A DISASTER IN THE MAKING. OTHERWISE, Y&R IS THE BEST SOAP EVER!!!!!!!!!! KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK. GOD BLESS.

I have been watching Y&R since the 70’s and I don’t know if the writing staff has done much good. The only characters I like on the show are Nicholas,Sharon,Phyllis,jack,Victor, which reminds me that after the past storyline that Josh Morrow had he should be nominated for a emmy,,also Sharon Case, they are both awesome actors, I like Peter and Michelle but they ALWAYS seem to be nominated every year! I can not stand the characters Brad,Jill,Sabrina,Victors new son,,I don’t like him at all, used to LOVE Nikki but can’t stand David. Basically Nick,Sharon,jack,& Phyllis are the only reason I watch the show anymore. The storylines need some help, can anyone ever be happy for at least a little while? The storyline of Gloria & jeffrey drives me crazy, they are together for a nano second and then they are fighing again!

Well, I believe we all have to admit, after Latham was fired, the show has gotten 1000 better than it was. 08 has been decent thus far. It’s not the best ever, but it’s an improvment over what Y&R turned into in 06 & 07. There are many times on the show now where it feels like the old classic Y&R. They are actually back to using the good old sets rather than having every single episode take place in the Newman breakroom.
The storylines by Latham were absurd. Every character became a criminal, all suspected for murder. Brad is a cave hunter running from Nazi’s. Victor has siezures and befriends the Dalai lama. Daniel turns into a pervert. GIVE ME A BREAK! At least now, the storylines are believable. So, I’d like to say, thanks CBS for putting Y&R back on track.

I have watched Y & R from day one but the past year has been the worst.
Gloria & Williams time is up,story line is terrible. Victor’s character is very bad along with his new son & new wife. I use to tape it and couldn’t wait to get home to watch it but not anymore. Jean Cooper is the only one on there with class now. Love Jack and Sharon together. Please make it worth watching again.

Mattie you hit the nail on the head, there is about 200 ladies at our office feeling the same. We can predict the story lines,well like Kane and the nutty women, No one wanted Kane to be the father and lose Lilly but surely you wrote it same old. Nutty lady to be stalking him and not his child and he and Lilly getting together finaly now that would be something. It is time Victor stop runny away which is what we felt he would. It is time for the Newman family to get back together get away from the back stabbing and cheating enough is enough. The best thing you did was get rid of new wife and not get the son of the show he only wants to take over, making up for what he feels if lost time or something like that power happy. David was the only story that was unexpected mob. Pretty good. Valerie you are right Jeffery and Gloria please either on or off the cream bit let it go enough happiness for awhile please.

I am sick of the jeff & gloria, when will gloria be found out on the cream? Jack & Adam both need to go down and hopefully Victor will be the person to do it. Last but not least, I hope Cloe is found out before she has the baby.

is alive, and that’s just what Jill need to hear. Niki, Victor, Cane and Amber really love Catherine. I am sick of Jack,Adam, Brad and Cloe needs to get caught in all her lies. I can’t watch to see Mondays’s show.
