Natalia Livingston Speaks Out On General Hospital Exit

From the new issue of Soaps In Depth magazine, Natalia Livingston states her reasons, vaguely I might add, for leaving General Hospital. Apparently, She and TPTB had been discussing hew future with the Soaps for months now. Natasha said she would love to pursue other options in her career. Mainly, PRIMETIME. You know what, I do understand that. She’s a very talented actress and a sweet person to boot. I don’t have a problem with her leaving the show to further her career. Vanessa Marcil and Josh Duhamel did it. Amber Tamblyn who she replaced for the Emily Quartermaine character is also doing marvelous in Hollywood. Amber left a big shoes for Natalia to fill but she did it successfully. She won an Emmy for it. So I’m not bitter at all that Natalia felt she had to go. What I’m mad about is the fact that GH decided to kill the Emily character off altogether. As I and everybody else has pointed out, they could’ve brought a recast. It’s a HUGE shoes to fill but I’d rather have a recast than kill someone who is such an integral part of the Port Charles canvas. Especially with Emily’s love affair with Nikolas. Their love is timeless.
In a way, it’s flattering to know that the show can’t see anyone else playing Emily bu Natalia. BUT, that’s what All My Children thought with the Greenlee Character but Sabine Singh is holding her own over at Pine Valley, with such a heavy storyline by the way. So it can be done. Interestingly enough, I feel that fans have been warming up to a Brenda recast so I wouldn’t be surprised if an Emily recast is just fine. We hate beloved characters being killed off while criminals and new useless characters stick around.
Follow your dreams Natalia. I hope to see you soon on PRIMETIME or even movies. You can do it. Might I suggest DESPERATE HOUSEWIVES? You could play Susan Myer’s sister. The not-so-clumsy, gorgeous and smart sister. Or you could just be as wacky as Susan. That would be fun. Hey just a thought. Sounds good to me. 
Once the writers are back from striking maybe you can come to your senses and have this all be a dream or halucination that everyone happened to have. You found someone else to replace Carly, so find someone to replace Emily… or pay Natalia more monies to come back to the show. I love Emily and Nicholas together. They are the main reason I watch.

What were they thinking when they killed the Emily character off? Emily and Nicholas could have been the next Luke and Laura!!! GH is just not what it use to be. I think they need to bring back some of the old charaters if they expect to win any Emmy’s.
Natalia will be On GH till May of 2008 it was confirmed this week , she will be finishing up her story line
I don’t believe any other actress would ever be able to fill Natalia’s shoes. She will be missed everyday by all faithful fans.
I don’t think Natalia should be removed, killed, or anything else. She is a outstanding actress who deserves to stay as Emily Q. This is one of GH’s best storylines, especially with Nikolas. If she does decide to leave, Natalia would be greatly missed by her dedicated fans.
I think Emily is the heart of GH and is one of the most truly unique and wonderful characters over all of the soaps on the ABC network. I don’t care who plays her as long as she is brought back, truly alive and not in ghost form. It is a true tragedy that she was killed off.
A question…did TPTB “kill” her, or did she want to leave at the end of her contract?
Lela, as far as I’m concerned they “killed” her off. A lot of actors have left daytime and have been recasted successfuly so I’m sure an Emily recast would’ve been accepted. TPTB felt killing Emily is the way to go.. I guess.
I’m just totally digusted w/GH for quite a while now, but continue to watch, not very happy though. and you are right, they keep all the killers, pia, and bring in “bad” people, and get rid of someone so wonderful, like Emily, who held the Q’s together, now they are going to keep her till may of 08, i for one do not want to watch a ghost for a year.
Emily was a great character on gh and she will be deeply missed! I am very sad to see Natalia go but this exit was her choice. Gh should have never killed her off for these reasons! There was so much storyline left unresolved between Nick and Emily. Marriage, His sickness and possible motherhood! She would have been a great doctor also! I know that this is just a soap opera but i cried when she died! I love Natalia but Emily should have been recast! I hope that Helena has given her a drug to make it appear that she is dead! Gh is really getting on my bad side! You kill off alan, tony, and soon to be georgie and you put bobby, monica and ned on recurring basis! Gh needs to get rid of Guza if they want to win any Emmy’s in the future!
I caNNOT believe they are going to rid of georgie too, this program is not even worth watching anymore, and i am an old lady, well not that old, and i have been watching gh for years, but oh boy, its definitely coming to an end for me.
I can’t believe they killed her off. Why do the good ones always leave. What ever happened to the actors just enjoying a good thing when they got it. That’s kind of why I enjoy Days because the actors are Lifers, they stay on the show, most of them anyways. I hate getting attached to the characters then they leave. Then you finally get used to the new ones and then they fire them like Sabine on AMC. I know no one can fill Natalia’s shoes but Emily was just starting her life and she was a part of many storylines. She had a lot of class too. I can’t imagine Nickolas with anyone else. It will be interesting to see what they do with him now. I love the whole Cassadine thing. The ball and the castle were kind of reality mixed with fantasy. Not many soaps do that anymore.
I was terribly disappointed of the writers of GH. The love story of Emily and Nikolas was remarkable and unreplaceable. These two characters replaced the love story between Brenda and Sonny. I dont know what next is going to come up on GH but I dont think anthing can replace those two story lines and I dont think anything can anymore. I cannot watch GH –I am really heart broken. I understood by Natalia Livingston had to leave.. I Dont understand by the writers of GH had to kill her character…
I think Natalia would be a good replacement for Sarah on CSI: Vegas.
Nick and Emily are the Romeo and Juliet of Gh. I dont understand why Gh has chose to kill her off instead of recasting her! If the tumor in Nicholos brain is removed then Emily’s existence to him will vanish away. I know its just a soap but it is so sad! Gh nees to stop killing off the good characters!
Natalia Livingston is Emily Bowen Quartermaine-Cassidine, she is the heart of the show, Nikolas loves her, don’t 4 get tyler & natalia were in love in real life in 2005 not just on the show but 4 real, off the camera(gh). they were boyfriend/girlfriend. Natalia was Emily since 2003 when the character was brought back to town, they recasted her, her first storyline, she had cancer, after recovering from a broken back in a accident at the time Zander was in the picture. i hope this thing with nikolas these hallucinations are not real, and that it all was just a dream, a bad nightmare, so then natalia(emily) could stay on and not in a ghostly way either. please don’t kill emily off, she is too good and sweet, this is also 2 natalia off screen a message stay well & happy natalia,
I still am saddened by Emily’s death! I am also pi$$ed at GH for killing her off! I would have rather her be kidnapped by Helena and presumed dead because i hate this ghost story line! It is just too sad! I am going to miss Natalia once this ghost story line ends! Gh please consider bringing her back! Monica needs her daughter and Nik needs his finace! No one can replace Emily in Nik’s heart not even Nadine! It looks like Nadine and Nik will be a couple after emily leaves the show! I will not accept Nik with any other woman!
As far as Natalia to replace Sarah on CSI Vegas I do not think so as she is too gentle in character.
We are sorry to see her leave GH as we have been fans for years but do wish her the best of luck in what ever she persues in her career.
So annoyed about Emily’s death…They could of done many other story lines instead of killing her off. Then again people seem to be coming back from the dead often…so I have hope one day she will be back! She is my favorite and I didn’t watch the show for a couple days when they killed her off…I have now but its not the same!
Emily was killed of Gh for what reason? They need to get rid of Sam!! I understand that Natalia wanted to leave but that character should have never been killed off! GH really slapped this cheesey storyline together! Writers strike storyline i guess and it really sucks! Come on,Diego is the killer after they blamed Cooper and Logan! I even thought Daniel was the killer! I would rather have Helena Cassedine kidnap her! I hope one day Gh brings her back. I wish that Natalia would change her mind and come back in the future! Im going to miss her and I don’t think the show will be the Same!

I hate how they killed Emily off! I mean, the stupid mob gets to stay on and be center stage on the soap but the characters who many people love and practically held the soap together get killed off! Kill Sonny instead of so many “close calls” cus we all know he’s gonna survive them anyways cus it’s all about him. But killing originals like Alan, Tony, and Emily to name a few is horrible. Than how the Q’s are almost never on anyways. And taking Dillon away (shock they didn’t kill him too) and then killing Georgie ruined another one of the GH great love stories. Nikolas and Emily were one of the best relationships on the damn soap besides how they made him cheat with Courtney - how stupid was that? - and then make it look like Nikolas killed Emily. So what if Natalia wanted to do primetime? Don’t kill a loved character. They didn’t kill her when Amber wanted to leave. Ugh, I wish they just left GH the way it used to be - before it was Sonny-centered a.k.a. “The Sopranos” wannabe. This ghost idea is horrible and how Nikolas looks like he’d die from the tumor then get help and lose Emily’s ghost. Great, kill another loved character. Why don’t they just kill Luke too? Maybe precious Sonny will win the Emmy’s instead of a man not on much then?
bravo missy - couldn’t have worded it any better, my exact sentiments. Its turned into a mob show, and its not even exciting anymore, all they do is kill, be killed, wait to be killed, plot to kill, etc, etc. And the poor Q’s, its about time they gave monica a “part”. please give us baCK the old general hospital, that was what “soaps” were all about, shame on you.
I too are very upset about killing off Emily. I am hoping that one day it will be revealed that Helena kidnapped the “real” Emily and sent in a “twin” to be killed. Now, at the risk of causing trouble, I loved Sam with Jason. Besides Carly, Sam is the only who accepted Jason for who he is and never wanted to change him. Sorry everyone, but the one they should have killed off is holier-than-thou and BORING Elizabeth!!!! All she does is walk around whining and crying…

Don’t know where else to write or how to get answers, but I am so totally disgusted with GH right now, I couldn’t even watch the other day with those 2 yappy girls fighting, and who the hell is Sonny telling his lawyer who she can see, the whole show in my opinion is awful, and now the killer father is out in the streets once again, does anyone pay attention to this storyline. It really stinks. peace
